Meet Our Staff for 2013
GREG KELLY - SAILING MASTER
A founding member of Pleasant Bay Community Boating, Greg has a long list of
other sailing accomplishments: he was the lead person that was behind the
establishment of both the Chatham and Nauset High School sailing teams. Greg
himself has coached the Chatham High School Sailing Team since its inception in
1996. He was president of Southern MA Yacht Racing Association 2000-2001, and
the Commodore of the Orleans Yacht Club 1989-1991 to name only a few a few.
Greg has raced Speculation, his Hunter 25.5 in the annual Figawi race every year
since 1986. He won his class in 1988 and has placed many times in the top four.
In 2010, he raced in the 39th annual Figawi race between Hyannis and Nantucket
along with at least 240 other boats, he explained that he came in 7th in his
class of 23 boats. Greg has sailed in many regattas around the Cape including,
Hyannis Regatta, Edgar Town Regatta, Buzzard Bay Regatta and the Race Around The
Cape.
Greg's goal for the PBCB program this summer is to take our sailing program to
the next level. Greg believes our program has matured to the point that it could
benefit our students if the program was more structured and sequential. The plan
is to offer sailors the opportunity to advance their sailing skills in a more
organized manor. We plan to track each student's skill development in order to
provide them the opportunity to advance their sailing and seamanship skills.

range from government and politics, to sailing, to just enjoying the last few

fall. I've been sailing since a young age, learning the basics from my Uncles
and Dad who all enjoyed growing up near the Bass River in West Dennis. I took
lessons from the Orleans Yacht Club for a few summers, and more recently, in
High School, I've been a Varsity member of the Nauset Sailing Team where we race
420s. As a senior, in my final year on the team, I have had the distinct honor

I was eight with PBCB and since that summer anytime someone says "sailing"
my heart skips a beat. Sailing here I have been able to have some amazing
experiences in boats of all shapes and sizes, in and out of Pleasant Bay.
